While it sounds cliché, I believe in the old saying that 'knowledge is power'. I am a firm believer that everyone has the ability to achieve his or her best with encouragement, assistance, and a supportive environment. My teaching philosophy has stemmed from my own learning experience and I am incredibly passionate about both my own continuous learning, and teaching content and ideas in a way that is challenging, creative and allows for life long learning.
While allowing students to be creative and providing flexible learning experiences, the Visual Arts fosters reflective and critical thinking, as students create and consider their own decisions and choices. The Humanities, similarly encourages critical thinking through the analysis of history and economics and how these areas affect students’ current everyday lives and communities. |
As a teacher, I strive to support students through these subject areas to not only reach their full potential academically, but also to value the education of themselves and their peers. I believe that I am able contribute to the development of successful, well-rounded members of society that are independent thinkers with positive social skills and are respectful of themselves and others.
