year 9 photography - student led program
This photography course is an ICT heavy program. After the first 4 weeks of photography basics and introductory lessons, students undertook a program of their own choice. Activities offered covered both the creating and making and exploring and responding dimensions of the AusVELS Arts domain.
My goal through the process was to encourage this particular group of year 9 students to take more control over the organisation of their studies. As well as undertaking research, students had to apply specific skills and meet deadlines.

The benefits of this program so far have been threefold.
1. Students have gained responsibility for their learning.
2. The program offers flexibility so that when students are not prepared with the appropriate materials, they have other, varied tasks to work on.
3. Students choose assessments that are suited to their interests and are able to display their knowledge in a range of ways.
